Did Life Give Us Lemons?
The Science
Lemons are not naturally found in nature! Our ancestors saw the aroma of a citron and the juiciness of an orange (most probably a sour orange) and said, "Hey! What if we cross these two? i.e. the cross pollinating citron with pollen from orange flowers?" The result was a lemon! A classical example of genetic manipulation!
Why I Chose It
Coming out of an Agricultural Biotechnology class and smelling lemons in the air made me capture this photo as practical proof of genetic manipulations in plants.
