Water contamination

lahore

The problem

Water contamination occurs when harmful bacteria, chemicals, heavy metals, or waste pollute drinking water sources. It affects entire communities, especially children and people in rural or low-income areas with limited access to clean water. Contaminated water can cause diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, and typhoid, while long-term exposure to pollutants can lead to serious health problems. Since contamination is often invisible and laboratory testing is costly or inaccessible, many people unknowingly continue using unsafe water.

Why it matters

It matters because access to safe drinking water is essential for good health and preventing waterborne diseases. Solving this problem would benefit entire communities, especially children, families, and people in rural or low-income areas, by reducing illness, lowering healthcare costs, and improving overall quality of life.
